Description

Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with a Classic Patty Melt. This mouthwatering sandwich features a juicy beef patty topped with gooey melted cheese and sweet caramelized onions, all nestled between crispy, buttery rye bread.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 large sweet onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 slices rye bread

Instructions

  1. Form the ground beef into four equal patties, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter and add sliced onions. Cook until caramelized (10-15 minutes), stirring occasionally.
  3. In another skillet over medium-high heat, melt the remaining butter and cook the patties for about 4 minutes on each side until desired doneness. Add cheese on top during the last minute to melt slightly.
  4. Toast the rye bread in the same skillet until golden brown on both sides.
  5. Assemble by layering caramelized onions and cheesy patties between two slices of toasted bread.
