Description

Creamy scalloped potatoes are a decadent side dish that elevates any meal. Layers of tender potatoes, rich cream, and melted cheese create an irresistible comfort food experience.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups aged cheddar cheese, grated
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Thinly slice the potatoes using a sharp knife or mandolin.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  5. Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish. Pour half of the cream mixture over them and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  6. Repeat layering with the remaining potato slices, cream mixture, and top with leftover cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
