- 1 cup granulated sugar

- 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup heavy cream
- ¾ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
- Sift together flour and baking powder; fold into the butter mixture. Stir in chopped dates.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the toffee sauce, heat heavy cream and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until thickened.
