Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter with Guinness over medium heat. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Combine the warm butter-beer mixture with dry ingredients; mix in eggs and sour cream until smooth.
  5. Divide batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
