Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar (dark preferred)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Vegetable oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, green onions, garlic, ginger, and soy sauce. Mix until well combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into meatballs approximately 1 inch in diameter and place on a parchment-lined tray.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs in batches until browned on all sides (about 5-7 minutes).
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Pour over the browned meatballs in the skillet.
  5. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  6. Garnish with extra green onions if desired and serve over rice or noodles.
