- 2 lbs Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Slice the potatoes into thin rounds (about ¼ inch thick).
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté onions until golden brown.
- In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and half the cheddar.
- Layer half the potatoes in the baking dish; pour half the cream mixture over them followed by half the sautéed onions. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
- Top with remaining cheddar cheese and bake for 45-55 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
