Description

French Onion Potato Bake is a creamy, cheesy dish that blends tender potatoes with caramelized onions for an unforgettable comfort food experience. Perfect for gatherings and family dinners!


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Yukon gold or russet potatoes
  • 2 large sweet onions
  • 1 cup Gruyere or Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme (or dried)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice the potatoes and onions.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté onions until golden brown (about 15 minutes).
  4. Add heavy cream, thyme, salt, and pepper to the onions; simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the potatoes, followed by half of the onion mixture and half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; remove foil for the last 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
