  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (browned)
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • Powdered sugar (for glazing)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, warm milk, and granulated sugar. Stir until smooth and let rest for 15-20 minutes.
  2. Mix in the flour and salt until no dry flour remains.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours until doubled.
  5. While the dough rises, brown the butter over low heat. Stir in cinnamon and set aside.
  6. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (12×18 inches). Spread the brown butter mixture and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  7. Roll tightly from one edge to form a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Place rolls in greased baking pans and let them rise again for 30 minutes while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
