Ingredients

  • 1 cup super-fine granulated sugar
  • 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a clean bowl, whip egg whites until foamy. Add salt and continue beating until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add sugar while mixing until glossy stiff peaks develop.
  4. Sift together flour and baking powder, then gently fold into the egg mixture.
  5. Pour batter into an ungreased tube pan and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and springs back when touched.
  6. Cool upside down on a wire rack for about an hour before removing from the pan.
