Maple Walnut Fudge

  • Author: Emma Taylor
  • Total Time: 13 minutes
  • Yield: 36 small squares 1x

Description

Sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate are melted to create a creamy fudge flavored with maple and crunchy walnuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 ounces (450g) white chocolate chips, about 2 2/3 cups
  • 1 can (14 ounces / 397g) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons maple extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) walnuts, coarsely chopped

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on two sides to use as handles.
  2. Place the white chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in a large, microwave-safe bowl.
  3. Microwave on 70% power for 90 seconds. Let the bowl sit for 1 minute before stirring.
  4. Stir the mixture well. The residual heat should melt the remaining chocolate. If it’s not completely smooth, microwave in additional 15-second intervals at 70% power, stirring after each, until fully melted and combined.
  5. Stir the maple extract and salt into the smooth mixture.
  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts until they are evenly distributed.
  7. Pour the fudge into the prepared pan and use a spatula to spread it into an even layer.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or until the fudge is firm to the touch.
  9. Use the parchment handles to lift the fudge from the pan. Place on a cutting board and cut into small squares.

Notes

  • For the cleanest cuts, use a large, sharp knife. Run the blade under hot water and wipe it dry between each slice.
  • Toasting the walnuts in a dry pan over medium heat for a few minutes can enhance their flavor. Let them cool completely before adding to the fudge.
  • Ensure you are using sweetened condensed milk, not evaporated milk. They are not interchangeable and the fudge will not set properly with evaporated milk.
