Turkey Apple Cheddar Wraps

  • Author: Emma Taylor

Description

A quick and satisfying lunch wrap filled with deli turkey, sharp cheddar, crisp apple, and a tangy coleslaw mix.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large (10-inch / 25 cm) flour tortillas or flatbreads
  • 6 oz (170g) thinly sliced deli turkey
  • 3 oz (85g) sliced sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup (90g) chopped romaine or green leaf lettuce
  • 1/2 medium crisp apple (like Fuji or Gala)
  • 1 cup (85g) undressed coleslaw mix (shredded cabbage and carrots)
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp (5ml) olive oil
  • 1 tsp (5ml) honey
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. First, prepare the apple slaw. In a medium bowl, whisk together the apple cider vinegar, olive oil, honey, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cut the apple half into thin matchsticks. Add the apple matchsticks and the coleslaw mix to the bowl with the dressing.
  3. Toss everything together until the apple and vegetables are evenly coated. Set aside.
  4. Lay the two tortillas on a flat work surface.
  5. Arrange the lettuce down the center of each tortilla, leaving a border of about 1 inch (2.5 cm) on the sides.
  6. Layer the sliced turkey over the lettuce, followed by the slices of cheddar cheese.
  7. Spoon the apple slaw mixture evenly over the cheese on each wrap, distributing it down the center.
  8. To roll, fold the left and right sides of the tortilla in over the filling. Then, starting from the bottom edge, roll the tortilla up tightly to form a secure wrap.
  9. Slice each wrap in half on a diagonal with a sharp knife and serve.

Notes

  • For the best texture, serve the wraps immediately after preparing them. The tortilla will soften over time.
  • If you are packing these for lunch, consider packing the slaw in a separate container and adding it just before you eat to prevent a soggy wrap.
  • A spread of Dijon mustard or mayonnaise on the tortilla before adding the fillings is a nice addition.
  • Ensure your tortillas are at room temperature or slightly warmed so they are pliable and easy to roll without cracking.
